Five Simple Ways to Attain Holistic Wellness

Updated: Jan 2, 2023

Holistic wellness is an approach to health that focuses on the person's whole mind, body, and spirit and how they interact with their environment. Many conditions such as chronic inflammation, fatigue, anxiety, and depression are more interconnected than we think. Holistic wellness doesn't just focus on curing the illness but also on preventing and managing it. There are endless ways to ensure overall well-being. Still, to start with, simple lifestyle changes can play a significant role in our overall wellness.

Balance is the key

It is very easy to get caught up in the rush of everyday life and put our mental and physical health on the back burner in today's world. We are always so busy chasing the next big goal in terms of professional growth or personal development that we tend to forget that rest, rejuvenation, and play are equally important for our holistic well-being.

Taking out the time to connect with ourselves and our loved ones not only allows us to share positivity but also helps in fostering a sense of belonging and self-worth, which is critical to our emotional health.

Take Proper Sleep

This old-age advice may sound boring, but trust me, good sleep is essential for our body and mind to perform their best. We need proper sleep and rest to heal and renew the energy to function correctly. An adult body needs nearly 6 to 7 hours of sleep per day.

An adequate amount of sleep regulates the hormones that are directly related to our mood and emotions. Most often, when you feel annoyed or emotionally unstable, the chances are high that your body needs sleep.

Get Organised

Crumpled bed sheets, cluttered floor, a long task-list at work, 3456 unread emails, a massive pile of laundry that's been ignored for weeks. It is not just a sign of a carefree lifestyle but also a disorganised and stressful lifestyle. Having a cluttered desk at work and a messy house, missing important dates and appointments causes a tremendous increase in stress levels.

Well, we are not asking you to adopt a minimalist lifestyle or do a complete Marie Kondo; in fact, you can take out just 10-15 minutes every day to organise things at work, at home, and go over task lists.

You will be shocked by how calmer and stress-free you will be when you have better control over your everyday life; you can find things where they are supposed to be, remember things, and not have clutter taking over your life.

Move your body

Exercise is not just about losing weight like common perception. It is vital to move our bodies to enhance mood, improve energy levels, and promote quality sleep.

Going to the gym and burning calories is great, but don't worry if your lifestyle doesn't allow that. A walk-in nature, going out on your bicycle, or practicing yoga at home is also equally wonderful in keeping us fit and well. If you spend long hours at a desk, even little movement breaks are a great help.

Invest in Preventive Healthcare

As a culture, we do not believe in preventive healthcare, which is one of the primary reasons for the spike in chronic and lifestyle diseases. We believe in treating the disease instead of preventing it in the first place, which is not only much more expensive but also emotionally and physically taxing.

Preventative healthcare services might include things like:

  • Blood pressure screening

  • Cholesterol screening

  • Immunization vaccines

  • Diet counseling

  • Anemia screening

  • Cervical cancer screening

  • Breast cancer mammography and chemoprevention counseling

  • Developmental screening (for children)

  • Vision screening

  • HIV screening

In today's highly predictive world and unexpected medical emergencies, conversations about preventative health care at an individual and community level become all the more critical.

At LifeUno, our goal is to bring a wide array of health and wellness services, including routine health checkups and preventive tests, to your doorstep.
